Dear friends of the international organ festival Organum Histriae, It is with great pleasure that we invite you on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at 8 p.m to this year's first concert, which is very special! Why is that?
For the first time in many years, we have the honour of welcoming one of the most important Italian organists and experts in the publication of critical editions of organ music.
Andrea Macinanti, the name associated with the very beginnings of this project, is returning to Istria to present the Gaetano Callido organ, which was built in 1797 for the parish church of St. Stephen First Martyr in Motovun.
It was restored in 2006, thanks to the professional and high quality work of a long-time friend Francesco Zanin, but was placed in a temporary location (the church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Servits in Motovun) until the restoration of the parish church would be completed. At the end of 2023, the organ was finally "returned home", where it belongs both aesthetically and acoustically, and with this inaugural concert, under the fingers of the grandmaster, we will finally hear all the splendour of the late 18th century Venetian organ building tradition.
