Teran

Teran is an old Istrian type of wine produced from the Teran dark-skinned grape, which was the most widespread variety in this region at the beginning of the 20^th century. Teran was mentioned as early as 14^th century, when in 1390 it was given as gift to the emissaries of the Viennese court. The wine is characterized by a ruby-red colour, a relatively high acid content and a slightly sour finish. It is full-bodied and with a high polyphenol content, Teran is considered to be a therapeutic wine. It is best served at room temperature.
